IMF BAILOUT TIME (February 26, 2014)

The economic troubles in Croatia are growing by the day. The newspapers are all over the place about the best way forward, but it is clear that everyone is lost. And it is clear that the government is more lost than anyone else. Its measures are getting ever more desperate, if not also ridiculous. The only remedy that comes to mind is a bailout by the International Monetary Fund. All the government would need to do is call for insolvency administration. And it would be spared from all the criticism afterwards. The IMF would stop all the bungling and proceed along well-established lines. After all, there have been bailouts galore all around the planet. But why is the government not even considering the IMF bailout? The only answer that suggests itself is the Croatian gargantuan inferiority complex. Having gotten a country they can call their own only a generation ago, Croats cannot even think of letting anyone else run their own precious affairs. So, the crisis can only widen and deepen. The IMF bailout time is but a pipedream of mine.
