“I DON’T CARE” (July 14, 2014)

Thus a large sign on the chest of a T-shirt worn by a woman in her late teens or early twenties I just spotted in Motovun. She was a part of the tourist throng, but I could not tell where she was from. For some reason, the sign struck me as emblematic of her generation. Whence the T-shirt in the first place, for it was made with her market niche in mind. When I returned home, I searched for the phrase on the World Wide Web, and I got a trillion and a half responses in less than half a second. The first one was all I was looking for, though. It is a music video by Apocalyptica featuring Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace performing “I Don’t Care.” Hey, I was definitely onto something. Images for this expression feature untold T-shirts, as well. But I abandoned my search in a jiffy. Why in the world should I care about the generation in question? Our feelings are kind of mutual, anyway.
