PETS, KIDS (August 10, 2007)
It is difficult to be sure about such things, but I have a feeling that there is a growing number of dogs that tourists bring to Motovun. Of course, it is possible that it is increasingly easy to travel with pets, especially within the European Union. However, it is also possible that the number of pets is indeed growing. The latter possibility is surely more noteworthy than the former, though. It may well be that there is an inverse relationship between the number of pets and kids. That is, pets may be substitutes for little brats, whom an ever-smaller number of people actually want. As cats, hamsters, and crocodiles do not take travel particularly well, it is dogs that are so visible in our town. Besides, dogs are exemplary pets. As the adage goes, if you want unconditional love, get a dog. No-one has ever come up with a saying of this ilk with respect to kids, either.
