THE THRESHOLD INCARNATED (October 26, 2012)
Three pristine boards remain in the attic, but I already have six paintings in my mind. Unwilling to paint the boards before their time, I am facing an entirely new problem: a surfeit of ideas. If I keep going at this pace, the surfeit will grow and grow. I will end up choosing, which I hate to do. This is a fitting end to the Cave Art Now project, though. In spite of its disarming simplicity, geometric art is boundless. Literally so. No matter how many boards remained in the attic, all of them could be covered with paintings on both sides in just a few years. But the project is finished. Over and done with. There is no sense in extending it on account of new ideas that clutter my mind. As for me, the choice of six paintings for the remaining three boards will be a welcome challenge. And a growing one. If everything goes according to plan, the thrill will end in about three years’ time. By then, I will be a year short of ten in dog years. Ten times seven minus one, to put it squarely. The threshold incarnated. And much appreciated as such.
