THE MOTOVUN Y (October 29, 2012)

My favorite table at Marko’s is right by the café and restaurant door. My back against the wall of the Communal Palace, I can see the entire lower square from the lapidarium to the north to the loggia to the south. I can also see the archway that connects the lower and upper squares because the ramp leading up to it starts at my feet. I am thus at the very intersection of the Motovun Y, as I like to call it. Nobody can go anywhere in the old city without coming to this intersection. An ideal place for a curious pensioner like me, I tease myself for all to hear. And this is where I have my morning coffee and my evening drink every single day while I am in Motovun. Unfortunately, it was so nippy this morning that I had my coffee inside at Marko’s. The bora has brought the sunshine, but the air is also freezing. I will have to go for a drink at my favorite table as soon as sunshine reaches it early this afternoon.
