My No. 1 son had quite a trip yesterday. He flew from Trieste to Munich in the morning, and from Munich to New York in the afternoon. There was quite a bit of uncertainty concerning the first leg of the trip on account of snow in Europe, and there was even more uncertainty concerning the second leg on account of a hurricane approaching New York from the Atlantic. As I write, it is snowing in Munich and all flights have been cancelled in and around New York. My son made it in the nick of time. Had he gotten stuck in Munich because of the snow, he could not fly to New York because of the hurricane, anyhow. Perhaps it would take him several days to complete his trip. Be that as it may, I got his mobile-phone text-message a few minutes past midnight my time. The hurricane is expected to make a landfall later today or early tomorrow. Even though it will land close to Philadelphia, people in and around New York are being evacuated in droves. I can hardly wait to hear from my son again.
