There is a beach on the island of Pag on the Adriatic coast of Croatia that has become as famous as Ibiza the last few years. Zrče is its name. Every summer, youngsters from all around the world are coming in numbers in search of relentless entertainment. Music, drinks, sex, drugs… Croatian media report all sorts of things about the merry place, including untold pictures of nearly naked girls and boys with their arms raised high in the air. Partying goes on day and night. Sleeping is only for the sissies. Predictably, this is where one can also find venereal diseases aplenty. According to the media, seventeen such have recently been found in a single pool next to a bar and a disk jockey’s stand. To my chagrin, though, I cannot come up with more than four. Times have changed, no doubt. Venereal diseases, too, are having a ball. From their vantage point, the Croatian Ibiza is a godsend. An evolutionary miracle, no less. Who says that humans cause nothing but mass extinction of other species?!
