THE APPARENT CONTRADICTION (January 3, 2012)
If I am writing for myself, why am I in the public domain? This smacks of a contradiction, but it is easily explained. As I have hinted in my writings before, and more than once, I have written so much that it is getting rather difficult for me to find anything any more. At the moment, more than two-million words can be found in as many as thirty-seven files. Searching for anything on one of my computers is becoming ever more bewildering. What exactly am I looking for? Where precisely could it be? My website on the World Wide Web resolves such conundrums without any trouble. The search engine on the site is quite forgiving. And many of the things I am looking for appear all over the place. Besides, the search itself is stunningly fast. Nowadays, it takes me not more than a few minutes to find anything that comes to my mind. With the possible exception of all the previous pieces of writing where I have hinted at the apparent contradiction addressed here, though. After more than ten minutes, I gave up the search. Thus this piece, of course. I hope to find it without too much trouble the next time around. The search engine, stupid!
