Googling for references to one of my academic papers, I went for quite a few pages of search results. Many of them were wide off the mark. My last name pops up often enough, albeit in funny words. And so does my first name. There are many men with this name in Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia. The farther I went, though, the more often I found a Japanese last name attached to my first name. Or Ranko Miyama in full. Realizing that this must be a woman’s name, I looked a bit more closely. As it turned out, I was looking into pornography, most of it free. Quite a number of websites I opened showed the same face. In short, the lady in question must be a Japanese porn star of quite some fame. I googled her full name, but did not come up with anything about the woman herself. Just relentless pornography. At any rate, now I know why so many search words or phrases I find on Google Analytics concerning my site have a pornographic twist to them. Most likely it is my Japanese female name that attracts attention in the first place. The content must be a huge disappointment, to be sure. This must explain a rather high bounce rate characteristic of my site.
