MY SUMMER DIET (June 23, 2012)

During the heatwave, I have gotten into a dietary routine that seems to agree with me rather well. As always, I start the day with a banana. Around noon, I have several slices of corn bread with cream cheese and pickled olives. I go to the hotel terrace in the mid-afternoon and order a small portion of risotto with scampi. It is served in a tall glass as an appetizer. And I go for crapes with walnuts at Marko’s around sundown. Made with almost no sugar and plenty of coarsely-ground nuts, they round off the day splendidly. That is all by way of food, but I take it with about a liter and a half of Malvasia, a local white whine, with plenty of ice. As everyone knows, dehydration is a serious threat when one gets longer in the tooth. Anyhow, my routine keeps me reasonably trim while warding me from annoying hunger. To my delight, I shit like a bird, too. After about a week, my summer diet seems to work nearly perfectly for me.
