MONKEYS (December 1, 2012)

As we are sipping our morning coffee in a crowded café, my beloved suddenly turns to me: “Why do people like to drink coffee in cafés?” I shrug my shoulders: “Monkeys!” And then I go on and on about different primate species that live in packs of different sizes. “The only exception are orangutans,” I explain. “They get together only when they are mating.” It takes me a while to realize that she is not listening to me any longer. “The same old,” I can almost hear her. I bet monkeys that live together for a long time do not listen to each other, either.
