FAN FROM THE ATTIC (June 22, 2012)

Incredibly, it took me no less than three days of nearly constant suffering to remember, go collect, bring down, and start using the Chinese fan from the attic.

Addendum I (June 23, 2012)

I am quite a sight as I move from room to room in my darkened house. Wherever I go, I carry the Chinese fan with me. As it is rather tall and on the awkward side, I first turn on the lights. I position it carefully on the floor, and then I plug it into the wall. I go about my business, unplug the fan, pick it up from the floor, turn off the lights, and carry the fan to the next room where I have something to do. Often enough I go from one floor to another, as well. I shake my head in disbelief every now and then, but the fan is always by my side. The summer is not fooling around, either.

Addendum II (June 24, 2012)

My beloved is teasing me that I am like an ardent fan of Josef Ressel, a Czech inventor who spent a few years in Motovun, where the lower square was recently named after him. Born in 1793 in Chrudim in East Bohemia, he died in 1867 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is most famous for his screw-propeller for ships, for which he got a patent in 1827 following a successful test in the Trieste harbor. This propeller is often confused with the standard ship propeller, which looks quite like a modern fan. Anyhow, I definitely look like an ardent fan of the inventor as I walk around the house with the Chinese fan in hand. How my beloved would laugh if she only saw me!
