A moment ago I was surprised by the notion of “divine creator” in one of the newspapers that I regularly read online. Why “divine,” though? Can a “creator” be anything other than “divine”? Silly questions, no doubt. Of course, everyone is a creator nowadays. Or nearly everyone. Thus the need to specify the creator in question, as there can be only one “divine creator.” Simple enough, I guess, but still annoying no end. If there is only one “creator” worthy of the word, why not drop the adjective “divine”? Also, why not stop calling anyone else “creator”? I will never get an answer to these questions, it goes without saying. Once established, linguistic habits are hard to change. The best I can hope for is to learn when the notion of “divine creator” has come into use. This is an important notion, for it has ushered the “creator” age.
