TOO MUCH ART (July 16, 2011)
About a month ago there was a big gathering at Hotel Kaštel in Motovun concerning something like the connection between art and nature. As far as I could understand the whole thing from the hotel crew, it had to do with making nature closer through art. At the time, I also learned that the hotel would take part in this breathtaking venture. Today the artists have descended, though. I recognized a few of them at once, but I behaved as though I had forgotten their faces. I am old enough to afford such excuses. There are seven of them, to be exact, as many as chestnut trees on the hotel terrace. As I write, each one of them is daubing one of the hapless trees. But I could not stand the excitement. I ran away from the terrace as fast as I could. Too much nature for me, I guess. Or is it too much art, perhaps?
