Miško Milosavljević and his mates are forever thinking of new pizzas to offer the hungry tourists on the lower square. Over the years, they have come up with many new recipes. Most are delicious. But this morning I proposed a pizza that would go with today’s holiday, the Eucharist or Corpus Christi. Thin and plain, it would be crisp after baking. And it would be served with a glass of red wine. Of course, a properly dressed priest would have to be involved in the preparation, so that the bread would turn into flesh and the wine into blood. Only an ordained priest can perform this feat, anyhow. The Jesus pizza would surely be a great success, especially with Christian tourists. Who knows, they might even flock to Miško’s pizzeria in droves. And Motovun would become a magnet for international pilgrimage.
