THE HONEYCOMB (October 20, 2011)
In a waking vision lasting less than a minute I saw myself walking through a three-dimensional honeycomb of sorts. There were no floors, ceilings, or walls. Every space was formed by many-sided surfaces set at different angles. None of these were either vertical or horizontal. Some of the surfaces were missing in all the spaces I visited. They were the openings connecting different spaces. Most of these openings could be reached without difficulty, but a few were unreachable without ladders. Similarly, some of the spaces directly underneath the one I was walking through could not be reached without ladders. Although the spaces differed in size, they were roughly spherical in shape. The geometry was close to regular, but not entirely. The surfaces were of the same color, which was off-white. They were covered with a sturdy material that offered good grip underfoot. There were no lighting fixtures, but all the surfaces seemed to radiate light. All the spaces I walked through were unadorned and empty. When the vision faded, I found myself kind of stranded. The honeycomb felt like home.
