THE MOVE (May 14, 2014)

Every now and then, I cannot access my Residua website. “Server not responding,” I am informed by the browser. Each time this happens, I write to Paul Bazay, the site designer and administrator in Calgary, Canada. When it happened again a week ago or so, I sent him yet another plea: “Please see what you can do to fix this recurring problem.” I also copied my No. 1 son, who put me in touch with Paul seven years ago, when the site was thoroughly redesigned. “I think it’s time we moved you off that server and on to something more stable,” Paul responded within hours. Together with my son, he plans to move me not only to another server, but also to another company that hosts websites. Both of them are assuring me that there will be no down time in this case. I will not even notice the move. My son also took onto himself to pay for the whole thing, for it is quite awkward for me to make payments all the way from Croatia. And now I am waiting to see what will happen next. I know that the two of them know what they are doing, but the move still makes me anxious. My site is very important to me, and yet I am completely ignorant of the technology behind it. Both my son and Paul copy me in their quick exchanges quite diligently, but I cannot figure out exactly what is going on. Clueless and powerless, I feel like drifting aimlessly. The move, what move?
