THE LAST DAY FOR THE SANDALS (October 20, 2014)
The day is gorgeous. There are hardly any clouds in the sky, and it is quite warm. Wearing my sandals, I am spending most of my time outdoors for the joy of the weather. I gladly go for any old chore, but I also take long walks for the hell of it. For the weather is expected to change the next few days. Much rain and appreciably lower temperatures are forecast. Meteorologists are even talking of snow. Yes, snow. Fearing that this could well be the last day for the sandals this year, I am doing my best to give them all they are worth. And so I just returned from yet another tour of the upper town, which is bathing in the sunshine. Both the upper and lower towns in Zagreb are crowded today. Everyone seems to be doing exactly what I am doing. Anxious of the change in the weather, many people are wearing sandals, as well. But enough of writing! It is time for one more walk in the blessed sandals while the sun is still out. And there is hardly any time to waste any longer. I will have all the time for writing when the weather turns nasty any day soon.
