STILL DREAMING (October 20, 2014)
Thus the sign on the chest of a colorful T-shirt worn by a girl of five or six I just spotted in the center of Zagreb. Dragged by the hand by her mother, she looked kind of peeved. She must have been denied something she thinks of as her birthright. Be that as it may, the T-shirt was acquired by someone in her family, most likely her mother, who also looked sort of piqued. As well as tired after a long day in the office topped by yet another trudge to the kindergarten. In her late thirties or early forties, it was most likely her who was still dreaming to this day. For her, her daughter was the greatest gift that life could possibly offer. Of this she was perfectly sure. All she wanted in return was a little appreciation on the part of the little one, for there could be no greater gift than the gift of life. Still dreaming, and for all to see, assuming a rudimentary appreciation of English.
