NOTHING TO BE DONE (August 22, 2014)
With Siniša Pintar’s help, the Portable Document Format or PDF of my last book is now available on my Ca’ Bon Gallery website, which is teeming with books (www.cabongallery.org). And for free. A spoof on Lenin, this selection from my Residua offers no hope for the human species concerning climate change. None whatsoever. We are up shit creek, and that is all there is to it. There is nothing to be done, that is. Whatever we do will be in vain, anyway. So, we can do whatever we please. Literally so, as well. Sex and drugs come first to mind. Theft and murder come next. But war comes to the top of the scale without much thought. The mother of all wars, no less. The only thing that stands in the way is human stupidity, for it will take quite a while for the bulk of humans to understand that the future has evaporated in front of their eyes. Whoosh! For better or worse, though, my book will have no effect on events. It, too, will be entirely in vain. Alas, all the pleasure will be mine. All mine!
Addendum (April 17, 2016)
Soon after it was completed, my book about climate change found a publisher in Belgrade, the city where I grew up (“Go Belgrade, Go!” August 29, 2014). Thus I removed the PDF file from my Ca’ Bon Gallery website. A bit less than two years later, the publisher is not interested in the second edition of the book, which has grown considerably in the meanwhile. For this reason, the PDF file with the second edition is now available once again at the Ca’ Bon Gallery site. Interestingly, the book has found few readers around the world. I sent it far and wide, but to no avail. We are up shit creek, and that is all there is to it. If there is nothing to be done, why bother reading about the calamity ahead? Given the book’s message, this is fair enough. But I still have a feeling that human stupidity is at work one more time. Indeed, it will take quite a while for the bulk of humans to understand that the future has evaporated in front of their eyes. Chances are that billions of them will perish before figuring out what is going on around them.
