NOTHING PERSONAL (August 21, 2014)
The electricity conked out only a few hours before our departure from Motovun. A short while later, the Internet service conked out, as well. Both my beloved and I were connected at the time, and it took us a while to figure out what was going on. “Hey,” I complained, “they could’ve waited until we left for Zagreb!” The electricity returned a short while later, but the Internet was not available for more than an hour. “Gosh” I quipped after many an attempt to restart the wireless service in the house, “what if they wish that we’d never return?” When it comes to Istria, I am a bit paranoid, I must admit. Thus I was relieved to learn later on that a large part of the peninsula was left without power this morning. The same was true of the Internet service. “Welcome to New Tuscany,” I joked happily. Nothing personal, it goes without saying.
