GREEN TEA (February 4, 2014)
I managed to get rid of cigars last year (“My Last Cigar,” October 18, 2013). It is high time to cut down on alcohol consumption, for getting rid of it would be too much of a challenge at this juncture. My standards fare is red wine, but recently I started drinking dark beer, as well. This was on account of ridiculous wine prices in the Croatian capital, and it also cut my alcohol intake by an appreciable margin. Now I drink wine at home and in restaurants, whereas I drink beer only in cafés. This is where I will do my best to change my habit, too. Instead of beer, I will be ordering green tea. Although I have not touched it for years, it is appealing enough. It seems to be in vogue at present, which means that it is widely available. The current craze may be neither here nor there, but at least it suggests that this particular kind of tea is not hazardous to one’s health. Be that as it may, I had my first cup of green tea yesterday afternoon. The second cup I took at home in the evening. And I had the third cup this morning. So far, two glasses of beer and one glass of wine less. Would that my new campaign were as successful as the previous one. Cigars, what cigars?
