EASTER THOUGHTS, AGAIN (April 20, 2014)
Rare as they are in the so-called west, scenes of religious fervor touch me deeply. On occasion, they bring tears. Passion in all its guises is very to my liking, I must confess. What I abhor about religious holidays, Christian or otherwise, is the fake belief as manifested by the strict adherence to rules and regulations of the church or any other religious authority. And that is almost all that one witnesses on so many religious holidays nowadays, including topmost ones. Travesty of religion in a travesty of civilization. That rare and almost divine touch of religious fervor is my only reward, a staunch non-believer that I happen to be.
