CLEAN, CLEAR (January 27, 2014)
Nothing works exactly as it is supposed to. And never will. You can wipe your ass as clean as you wish, but really clean it will never be. Residues of your shit will cling to your asshole no matter what, not to mention your colon. The circular muscle separating the two works only so well, and a single fart is enough to propel some shit into your asshole. The best you can do is to make a certain amount of shit in your asshole acceptable to you and declare yourself clean.
The same holds for everything else, including your thought. Although not encumbered by the physical world, it is mired by language, which is imprecise by nature. You can polish your concepts as much as you wish, but really clear they will never be. Residues of your language will cling to your thoughts no matter what, not to mention your brain. The gate between the conscious and the unconscious works only so well, and a single emotional jolt can make your thoughts not only obscure, but also hopelessly garbled. Besides, thinking is hardly the brain’s forte. To wit, not even your mind works exactly as it is supposed to in spite of its apparent freedom from the physical world. Once again, the best you can do is to make a certain amount of obscurity acceptable to you and declare your argument clear.
One way or another, the old thesis, antithesis, and synthesis can push an argument only so far. On top of the obscurity involved in both the thesis and the antithesis, dialectics perforce brings the two together in the grand synthesis. The closely intertwined steps of the argument, obscure as they are bound to be, cannot but add to the obscurity of the argument in its entirety. Alas, your thoughts will be as clear as your asshole will be clean, and you had better accept the verdict. Call it synthesis, if you wish. And stop complaining about your lot in this world in which nothing ever works exactly as it is supposed to. Or ever will.
