BEAUTY ITSELF (November 27, 2014)

I am sitting in one of my favorite cafés in Zagreb next to a couple in their late thirties or early forties. Both of them are short and pudgy. He is completely bald and her short hair is died bright red. Neither of them is graced with beauty in any shape or form. But their eyes are sparkling. They caress each other with gusto. Every once in a while, they kiss each other surprisingly loudly. They even bite each other on occasion. It is clear that they are very much in love and that they are consumed by passion. Whatever they see in each other is beauty itself. Although they do not pay any attention to anyone around them, our eyes meet every now and then by chance, and I cannot but smile at them both. It is a real joy to see a couple like them. Their beauty shines more and more clearly. It is becoming radiant. And their sparkling eyes are simply ravishing. The mystery of love for all to see right in the middle of a crowded café in the Croatian capital.
