My old dream of writing in Latin has reawakened out of the blue. Yesterday’s haiku was a big surprise, for it was spontaneous to boot, which only added to my joy. Ever since, I have kept returning to it in amazement. And I keep rereading my haiku over and over again. As well as aloud. Perhaps I cannot write an entire book in Latin, but I can surely write an occasional piece of poetry in prose in the language of my ancestors. This is hardly a pipedream any longer. All it takes is a bit more work, but the joy is so much greater than writing in English that it is well worth it. Back to Latin is my new motto, to be sure. Vivat lingua Latina!
