A PORTENT (June 5, 2014)
As I was having my morning coffee at Marko’s, a scarab beetle appeared out of nowhere. It hovered above me for a while, and then I extended the back of my left hand to the luminous insect. It landed at once. Having smelled my skin and made a few steps toward my fingers, it lifted its head toward the sky. It was clear that it was about to fly away. I wished it a good day, and the scarab took off. Looking after it, I smiled and smiled. The day could not have started with a portent more apt, and from Mother Nature herself. My beloved will join me this afternoon.
