“VIOLENCE IN GAZA LEADS TO YOUTH RADICALIZATION” (August 12, 2014)
Thus Der Spiegel today. “The most recent cease-fire appears to be holding in the Gaza Strip, but vast damage has already been done,” explains the newspaper. “In addition to the appalling loss of life and destruction of property, the war has pushed even more Palestinians to the radical fringes.” The photographs that accompany the article are horrendous. They show many a devastated quarter. Whatever happens with the current ceasefire, the future is clear: Israel will see peace never again. With the new caliphate in Syria and Iraq, the Palestinian youth has few choices but the radical fringes. And the war in the Middle East can easily spread first east and then everywhere else. The American puppets in many an Arab country will be an easy target. Linking up with radicalized youth in Afghanistan and Pakistan will take a little time, but the Muslim underbelly of Russia will be a real challenge. In two or three years, dozens of countries will be at war. And al-Qaeda will be remembered with a nostalgic sigh.
