ALL YOU NEED IS ME (July 28, 2009)

Thus the sign on the chest of a dirty T-shirt worn for a couple of days in a row by a local woman on Ilovik. Like many of her gender on the island, she looks like a man. About fifty, her face is creased as though she is in her seventies. There are few curves on her body. She looks scruffy. And she never smiles. Most likely she got the T-shirt from a close relative who had emigrated to America many years ago. Quite a number of Americans speaking broken Croatian can be seen all over the place. As for those people who have remained, and there are fewer than a hundred of them at this juncture, all they apparently need is a relative in the States.
