ON LOCAL NEWSPAPERS, AGAIN (January 31, 2008)

God knows why, but the last few weeks I have been buying quite regularly all the local newspapers available in the post office. There are three of them, to be exact. Two of them cover the whole of Croatia, and one covers only Istria. Every day I go through everything minus the sports pages rather thoroughly, but I rarely read anything. I just skim through the titles, subtitles, quotes in boxes, and the like. The reason for this is that I can easily get angry while going through the newspapers, and reading anything a bit too closely is liable to get me hopping mad on account of either substance or form. Anyhow, this morning I glanced at all the newspapers on offer in the post office and suddenly felt so revolted by their front pages that I decided on the spot not to buy any of them. Not a single one. Oh, how good I felt!
