A REAL ANGEL (January 30, 2008)

I am sitting at Tomica’s when a bunch of people from the church choir pile in after their evening practice. Their director, Aida Vidan, walks in last. At some point she turns to me with a big grin on her face: “Must tell you this joke!” I nod with a smile. “One guy says to another: ‘My wife is a real angel.’ ‘You’re lucky,’ says the other, ‘mine is still alive’.” She laughs out loud and I join her. A rebel at heart, Aida relishes the unlucky guy’s wife. “Give him hell, sister!” you can almost hear her through her laughter.
