HER MOTHER (January 22, 2008)
As it happens, I am exactly the same age as the mother of my beloved. When we happen to be of two minds, I like to remind her that I could have been her mother.
Addendum (October 20, 2016)
For the record, my beloved’s mother is one year my junior. There must have been a misunderstanding when this haiku was penned. For the record once again, my beloved’s father is four years my senior. In other words, I could have been her father, as well. Twenty-three years my junior, she certainly could have been my daughter. The fact that my first child is six years her senior has to do with my drawn-out education. I was twenty-nine when the child was born a few months before I got my doctoral degree. The record is now straight. Phew!
