DOCTORS, ACTORS (July 6, 2007)
There are two professional gatherings taking place in Motovun at the same time: one of doctors, another of actors. One would guess that it would be easy telling the participants of the two gatherings apart, but one would be dead wrong. They are nigh indistinguishable even after careful scrutiny over a few long days. I was quite delighted at first on account of this discovery, but then I started feeling troubled by it. The unease grew from day to day. Professionalism be praised, but I would still like to be able to tell my doctors from my actors. Come to think of it, the flat, egalitarian, homogeneous world in which I happen to live is ever more uncomfortable. Even the crassest of caricatures would suit me better in this case. Only imagine the grim doctors skulking around in black cloaks and cheerful actors prancing about in colorful outfits of yesteryear!
