WELL WORTH IT (July 1, 2003)

Every six months or so I search the World Wide Web for evidence of my humble self. Google gives me a quick overview of my status in the world. This morning I found ten pages bearing my first and last names together and in that order. Search results very much depend on details of this ilk. On the penultimate page I found something I have not seen before: Frog ‘n’ Blog. When I checked out this web page, it turned out to be on Jeremy Puma’s website, Puppet’s Lounge (www.puppetslounge.com). He is an American Stuckist and lives in Seattle, Washington. We correspond every now and then.  Frog ‘n’ Blog contains an image I circulated early this year together with my piece entitled “How We Might Finance the Next War” (January 28, 2003). The image, which I got a few days earlier from Jack Borden, another American who has dedicated himself to the awareness of the sky, shows a fighter jet plastered with corporate insignia. It is a wonderful spoof on the Bush administration. The only text accompanying the image is the very title of my piece. Now, Jeremy mentions that he got the image from me, provides a link to my Residua website, and briefly describes me as a “British economist/scholar/art critic/genius.” The search was well worth it.
