SITTING IN A BAR AND THINKING (January 28, 2003)

I am happy for women. I really am. It is good to see them liberated, unfettered, free, unbridled, let loose, unconstrained. Except in public places like bars, I must add. At least in one respect, their liberation is now a nuisance to the rest of us: a good number of women, especially in company of other women, are way too loud. Unbridled peals of laughter are the pits. And so are the unfettered screams and cries. Or high-pitched squeaks and squeals let loose. Now that women are so much richer than ever before, they should be fined for such vocal excesses. If they cannot constrain themselves, the law should ensure that their freedoms do not impinge on those of others. In the meanwhile, I am out of this bar.
