Thus the hand-written sign pinned to Savo Grubor’s bar counter up on Mure, the town wall. The young Teran is a joy to drink even though it is not even two weeks old. And the German tourists are drinking it with relish. To my surprise, they know what to look for and where to find it. Still a newcomer to Motovun, I may be the only one to be surprised by such cunning expertise among the tourist throngs. But never again. In an hour or so, you will find me again at Savo’s bar counter with a glass of young Teran in my hand. And you will find me staring at the already picked vineyards down below.
