Cooped up at home with my ailing mother, I am watching a good deal of television with her. Many vintage movies are on offer for the holiday season. Tonight I saw most of Goldfinger, which I must have seen a few times before. I have no idea how old is this James Bond classic, but the name of the heroine dates it pretty well: Pussy Galore. Late sixties or early seventies, that is, just before radical feminism affected the center stage. At first I could not believe my ears, but then I saw the credits. Actually, I waited till the end of the movie just to see the credits. As witnessed by my surprise, such a name would be simply unimaginable today, except for a porno star. A good thing, too.
