I would like to share with you the publication of my book, Residua, on the Web (www.residua.org). At the moment, only Books XXIV and XXV for 1999 and 2000 are available on line. In fact, the current book goes only through December 5. It will soon be updated through the end of the year. Also, Book XXIII for 1998 will appear soon afterwards—say, by mid-January. Over the rest of next year, I expect the remaining books to become available on line, bringing the whole thing to closure with Book I for 1976. Amazingly, it has been twenty-five years since I started this project, admittedly the central one in my life.

I must say at once that the Residua website is still in an experimental phase of development. You may encounter a glitch or two from time to time. Nevertheless, the website is ready for launch and you may experience no problem at all. Simon Rae-Scott of ConnectWorks is my Web publisher. The two of us would like to hear about any remaining glitches you may discover.

As most of you know, the last edition of my Residua came out in 1996 under the imprint of the Hereford Salon (www.herefordsalon.org). By the way, Simon also designed the Salon website. The Residua website provides a link to a page about the book itself, including a nice picture of the weighty tome. The previous publication involved close to 1,300 pages of printed text, ending with Book XX for 1995. Designed by Sergio Polano and printed in Italy, the book is a pleasure to behold. Many of you already have a copy, but I still have close to one-hundred copies left.

Since 1995 I have added approximately as many pages of text, bringing the book up to about 2,500 pages, which would make a similar publication of the whole thing rather impracticable. However, the Internet publication offers more than just a convenient way out of bulk. It also provides an unprecedented search facility. By selecting key words or phrases of your choice, you can find many things previously difficult, if not impossible, to locate. For instance, many of you will be able to quickly locate all my writings that mention your name!

Please let me know how all of this looks to you. I would really appreciate your feedback. The website provides a feedback facility, as well. Also, please feel free to pass the Web address of my book to others you believe may enjoy this kind of writing, or may enjoy meeting me in person at some point. I would be most grateful for your help in this regard.
