GERMANS (August 4, 1992)
In a cafeteria on the campus of a German university there is a big sign stating that smokers should sit in red chairs and that non-smokers should sit in green chairs. When the sign was put up, the red and green chairs were presumably placed in different parts of the cafeteria. Although the chairs are now completely mixed up, the smokers always sit in red chairs and non-smokers always sit in green chairs. This is what I recently heard from a colleague who witnessed this behavior in person. The curious thing is that every European can tell you a similar story about the silly Germans.
