YET ANOTHER ADDENDUM (November 28, 2015)
Having just penned my three-thousandth addendum, I feel like celebrating. But how should I celebrate my great feat? Hey, how about penning yet another addendum?
Addendum I (November 4, 2016)
A bit less than a year after this droll haiku was penned, there are six-hundred and fifty-nine more addenda to my magnum opus, including this one. And this is the record year already. By the end of the year, there will be more than six-hundred addenda penned this year only. I do not feel like celebrating, though. Far from it. For all my love of addenda, which give so much depth to my Residua, I am scared shitless by their unexpected explosion. This year I have managed to cut down the number of pieces written, and how, but it is different with the number of addenda. Very different. Simply put, their number is out of control. Yet another addendum, my ass.
Addendum II (May 19, 2017)
Amazingly, there are four-thousand and nineteen addenda at the moment. Well, make it four-thousand and twenty instead. Amazing, indeed. The last few years have been “blessed” with a veritable avalanche of addenda. But my yen for them is waning. And fast. In a few years, addenda will be rather rare. The same holds for all the pieces of writing, it goes without saying. I will write only when I must, as it were. By and by, there will be about a hundred pieces and as many addenda per year (“Nifty Numbers,” March 1, 2016). They will add up to no more than forty- to fifty-thousand words, as well. With a little bit of luck, I expect to reach these nifty numbers in three or four years. And what are three or four years in the fullness of time? Mere moments. Even that will soon strike me as yet another wild exaggeration.
