STEPHEN KING AND I (March 23, 2015)

Last Friday, I sent my last book to Arnold Trampe by electronic mail. “A happy read for this weekend,” I introduced it pithily. “Started reading your plea to Strasbourg,” he responded on Saturday. “Fascinating.” The weekend over, I heard again from Arnold: “Your Dying to Go to Strasbourg reads like a thriller by Stephen King.” “Great,” I responded. “As for King, I have never read a thing of his. I must have a natural talent…” Arnold was quick to reply: “I have never read anything by King, either, but he is famous for his thrillers. And so I thought…” The ellipsis rounds the exchange off just to my liking.
