SMACK BETWEEN LIBYA AND ANGOLA (July 14, 2015)
Government efficiency is in the news. According to the World Economic Forum, the ten most efficient governments in the world are those of Qatar, Singapore, Finland, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Rwanda, Malaysia, Switzerland, and Luxemburg. And in that order. The ten least efficient governments are those of Venezuela, Italy, Argentina, Lebanon, Libya, Croatia, Angola, Chad, Mauritania, and Serbia. In that order, as well. It is a joy to see Croatia smack between Libya and Angola, exactly where it belongs. But the biggest problem the Croatian government will face in view of the latest WEF ranking is that it lags behind Serbia by four places. Now, that is an insult that few governments in the Balkans could take! Consequently, there is much rejoicing in the Croatian media today. The government does not give a damn, though. What the heck, the country is ahead of Venezuela by as many as five places! That is, it has a long way to go still.
