FINELY GROUND BLACK PEPPER (July 14, 2015)
The last month or so, plenty of turds have been appearing around the front door of my house. Judging by their size, they are dog turds. And so I started feeling rather cross with the dog’s owner. For crying out loud, it is unseemly to let your pet do whatever and wherever it wants. Collecting the turds has become a habit even in Croatia as of late. If only I could see the dog in action. But I just saw a street cat shitting close to my front door. It is about a year old, and it is a female on the small side, but its turds are no less than prodigious. Actually, I was quite amazed seeing them come out of the cat’s puny asshole. Having compared all the turds strewn about the cobblestones, now I am sure of the culprit. Given that it does not have an owner, I will have to teach the cat about street manners all by myself. The only question is how. To the best of my knowledge, finely ground black pepper is a good old trick. Luckily, it does not cost all that much, either. Scattering it around my front door every once in a while is easy enough, as well. In a month or so, the cat will learn to avoid my front door like the plague.
