PLUMS WITH MEAT (August 10, 2015)
I just bought some plums at the Vivoda store on Gradiziol. They were picked this morning, I was told. And they looked it, too. When I came home, I picked the softest one among them, washed it, and started eating it. It was delicious. Only half way through, I noticed that there was a worm in it. I waved my hand and continued eating. When I was a kid, this was a sign that the plum was good, for it was selected for procreation by a clever insect. Back then, we could not care less about worms in plums, either. We used to call them plums with meat. Yet another source of protein, every worm is but a boon for a hungry kid. But look at the world as it has come to pass! A squirming worm would be worth a lawsuit across much of the so-called west. Should I laugh, or should I weep?
