KIND OF VICTORIOUS, AGAIN (June 10, 2015)

It has been pretty hot the last couple of weeks, and so I have been drinking freshly squeezed orange juice in many a watering hole in the center of Zagreb. The beverage is widely available as of late. When I just ordered a glass of draft dark beer at the Bulldog Pub, the waiter was quite surprised: “Wow!” Feeling victorious, I raised my arms high. “There’s only one life to live,” he chuckled in turn. But I did feel kind of victorious, I must admit. Like many a waiter on my daily tour, he knows that I have been pretty successful at cutting down my alcohol consumption over a year now. Whence his reaction. If anyone knows me well in the Croatian capital, it is the waiters.
