“THE CONCEALED-CARRY FANTASY” (October 26, 2015)
Thus The New York Times today. “A tragic tally of deaths should erase once and for all the idea that citizens with concealed guns are safer,” elaborates the newspaper. Actually, the article in question comes from the great newspaper’s editorial board, no less. For an open-carry enthusiast like myself, the point is abundantly clear. It is old hat, as a matter of fact. The only surprise is the American law that stands behind concealed carry to this day. The Congress and the Senate, that is. It is hard to imagine that all these people—supposedly clever one and all, as well as elected to serve millions upon millions of others—are confused about such a straightforward point. Simply put, visible guns are more effective as deterrents than hidden ones. There is ample historical evidence behind this claim, too. But I am wasting my breath one more time. And Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel is my witness.
