The grocery store on Gradiziol was kind of crowded when I arrived this morning. There were three old ladies and a male tourist in it, while the store is far from big. The tourist was in front of the line. The old ladies were in good mood. When the tourist left, one of them remembered Giulio Pamić, a tailor who lived in Germany for many years, but who used to spend quite a bit of time in Motovun after his retirement. He died in 2008. “He called tourists ‘terrorists’,” the old lady said. They all cackled. “Terrorists,” one of them kept repeating and shaking her head. I sort of liked Pamić’s joke, for tourists can get on your nerve, but it did not take me long to realize why he has come up on this particular day. The old ladies must spend a lot of time in front of their television sets. Pamić himself must have come up with his joke only well after 2001, too.
