THE WINDBREAKER (January 31, 2012)
It has been getting colder by the day in Zagreb. According to the forecasts, the coming weekend will be freezing. Wearing but a fleece over a shirt with long sleeves, I finally gave in this afternoon. And I took a windbreaker out of the closet. It has been waiting there for months, but I have had enough of the freezing cold. In addition to low temperatures, it is the wind that makes things uncomfortable. Together with the fleece, the windbreaker will do the trick. Or so I hope. Alas, several wonderful winter jackets are in Motovun! Ever since my move from Reading, the jackets have been idle. They are as good as new, but I remember them rather fondly at this juncture. I am sure to bring at least one of them to the Croatian capital the next time I visit the hilltown. Although it might remain idle for a few more years, on occasion it would bring me some comfort. Winters are not what they used to be, but neither am I.
