There was a meeting of the Motovun Municipal Council earlier this evening. After the meeting, all members of the council went to the same café. Huddled around a large table, they gabbed about all and sundry for another hour or so long after the official proceedings. When I came to the hilltwon a decade ago, the political situation was rather different. The members of the leading party and those of the opposition sat in different cafés after council meetings. And the cafés were far apart. Sitting together was more than unthinkable. Is this a huge step forward? Yes, it surely is. Especially because the erstwhile leading party is in the opposition right now. And the supposed leading party is as good as nowhere. Three cheers for the Istrian Democratic Assembly!
