THE END OF THE SANDAL SEASON (September 12, 2012)
It is getting cooler by the day. By and by, I am becoming aware of the approaching end of the sandal season. One telltale sign of it is that my sandals are becoming ever more slippery from the inside. A thin layer of sweat keeps my feet in place during most of the summer. However, my feet often slip before and after this period. Motovun streets being particularly steep and bumpy, a good grip of the feet inside the sandals is rather important. On my way home from the store this morning, I was slipping all over the place. At one point I almost twisted my ankle on poorly maintained cobblestones. The end of the sandal season was uppermost in my mind, though. I will have to switch to shoes in a few short weeks. Aaargh! The beginning of the shoe season now strikes me as something absolutely dreadful. Nay, disastrous.
